Theatre In The Park Celebrates 35 years of Ira David Wood III’s A Christmas Carol

Additional performance added Sunday, December 13th

Theatre In The Park will celebrate its 35th anniversary production of Ira David Wood III’s musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol this December. The show will be performed at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts Raleigh Memorial Auditorium December 8th  – 16th 2009.

Due to popular demand, Theatre In The Park has added an additional performance on Sunday, December 13th at 7:00 PM, at the Progress Energy Center. Tickets are currently on sale to season members only and groups of 20 or more. Ticket sales for special performances, such as A Christmas Carol, are made available to Theatre In The Park season membership holders first, giving them the opportunity to purchase their tickets on choice seating, performance dates and times. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on Sunday, October 18th and through the Memorial Auditorium box office on Monday, October 19th.

Theatre In The Park will celebrate another milestone this year. A Christmas Carol will embark on its third international tour. After enjoying critically acclaimed tours to England and France in 1987 and 1989 respectively, the production will return to Raleigh’s sister city, Compiègne, France. This will also mark the 20th anniversary of the original tour to France. A Christmas Carol will be performed in Compiègne on November 26th and 27th before returning to Raleigh for its annual production at Memorial Auditorium.

Fundraising activities have been underway to help support this international tour to France for Theatre In The Park.
