September 11th Concert: A Time of Remembrance and Reflection

Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park, 7:30 p.m. Rain location: Cary Senior Center in Bond Park

This concert, part of a worldwide commemoration sponsored by Sister Cities International, will feature a musical program with greetings from each of Cary’s Sister Cities and performances by local organizations.  Everyone is invited to come early and picnic in the park before the concert.

The Sister Cities connection to September 11 occurred in 1956, when the movement emerged from a White House Summit on Citizen Diplomacy.  At the summit, President Eisenhower called on Americans to practice people-to-people diplomacy in the name of peace.

The Town of Cary’s Sister Cities program has built relationships with four cities:  Le Touquet, France; Hsinchu City, Taiwan; Markham, Canada; and County Meath, Ireland.
