“Always…Patsy Cline” A Musical Tribute Opens at Raleigh Ensemble Players | Dec 10 – 13

Raleigh Ensemble Players Go ‘Crazy’ for Patsy Cline

PatsyRaleigh Ensemble Players continues its 28th season with Always…Patsy Cline, directed by Maggie Rasnick featuring ensemble members Canady Vance Thomas and Susannah Hough. The production plays December 10-13, 2009 at Theatre in the Park.

Considered one of the most produced musicals in American theatre, Always…Patsy Cline by Ted Swindley is based on his 1988 country imbued musical jukebox that chronicles the true story between Patsy Cline and her friendship with a groupie from Houston named Louise Seger. Seger, who ultimately befriends the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, continues a correspondence with Cline until her untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.

Always…Patsy Cline is a look at a star’s unforgettable sound and the legacy that still endures to this day. The musical play is complete with down home country humor, true emotion and audience participation that includes many of Patsy’ unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight…27 songs in all.  The show’s title is inspired by Cline’s letters to Seger, which were consistently signed “Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline.”

Starring Canady Vance Thomas and Susannah Hough, Always…Patsy Cline is a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at the age of 30, but a song-filled love letter that is full of humor and emotion.

  1. Wow! Just had a great night seeing Always, Patsy Cline with the Raleigh Ensemble Players! Susannah Hough is unforgettable as Patsy’s biggest fan! Go, Susannah! And Canady Vance Thomas captures every nuance of Patsy’s artistry, yet still making it her own. (That was fun!) I am totally Susannah’s “Louise” now! Yippee! Last show is tomorrow at 3:00! Don’t miss it!
