TOSCA, TUNES AND TOFU
Free concert and reception at Church of the Nativity, Sunday, June 6th, at 4PM
Join us for a unique concert of opera and vocal highlights featuring our multilingual sopranos and professional instrumentalists. Selections include music by Schumann, Berlioz, Bizet, Villa-Lobos and a little ditty from the Broadway show “My Fair Lady” that will make the audience wish they could have danced all night.
Instrumentalists will add brilliant touches with solo performances from Vivaldi to Verdi, including “Fantasia on Rigoletto” performed by NC Symphony Principal Clarinetist Jimmy Gilmore.
Soprano Waltye Rasulala, Nativity’s choir director, adds a Brazilian twist with Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Aria from Bachianas Brasileras No. 5. She will be accompanied by the haunting sound
of a cello choir, led by NC Symphony Associate Principal Cellist Elizabeth Beilman.
Following the concert join us for a reception to meet the performers and nibble on tofu specialties.
