Families, friends and music and movie lovers can journey over the rainbow, Saturday, July 10. The North Carolina Symphony and guest conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos perform the timeless soundtrack of The Wizard of Oz live while the movie runs on Koka Booth Amphitheatre’s big screen. But the performance and film only complete an enchanting evening of fabulous prizes and events for the whole family.

Food, Fun, and Prizes … Oh my!

The gates open at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary’s Regency Park at 6:00 p.m., with children 12 and under admitted free. Concertgoers will follow the yellow brick road past Dorothy’s house to meet Dorothy, Glinda, The Wicked Witch, munchkins and other favorite Ozians.

Children and adults can take their picture at a photo stand featuring the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion or get into the act themselves by arriving in their best Oz-wear and registering to win the evening’s costume contest. Three children and two adult winners will receive tickets to the Symphony’s upcoming series, spa and restaurant certificates, bubbles, toys and more.

Raffles will also give away a one-of-a-kind 18 carat gold ring with a 4.6 carat emerald green tourmaline, custom-made and donated by Ora Jewelers, and a children’s playhouse, donated by Backyard Playground.

From 6:00-7:00 p.m., picnickers will be eligible to win a gift package provided by Whole Foods Market in Cary as part of the Symphony’s summer-long Picnic of the Week contest. See recent winners and learn more at www.ncsymphony.org/picnic. From 7:00-8:00 p.m., families can participate in a frequent concert favorite, the Instrument Zoo, where Symphony members and staff demonstrate a variety of instruments and children can take their turn at the bow or on the horn.

Have a heart like the Tin Man and bring canned goods to donate to North Carolina Food Bank collection bins at the Main and VIP gates. Audience members with five items will receive a complimentary WakeMed Movies By Moonlight ticket. The first 500 people to donate also receive a special North Carolina Symphony novelty gift.

Registration for all prizes and giveaways will close at 8:15 p.m. The concert and screening beings at 8:30 p.m. Tickets to The Wizard of Oz, presented by Rex Healthcare, in partnership with the Town of Cary, are $25 and $30 in advance, $30 and $35 at the door, with children 12 and under admitted free. Koka Booth Amphitheatre is located at the Tryon Road exit off US-1, at 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary, NC 27518.
