Durham magazine of speculative fiction, Bull Spec, to launch issue #3

Durham’s quarterly magazine of speculative fiction launches its autumn issue at Chapel Hill’s Flyleaf Books. Pittsboro science fiction and fantasy author David Drake, featured in the issue with an excerpt, review, and interview, will read from his upcoming book OUT OF THE WATERS. Local story contributor Melinda Thielbar will be there to give folks a taste of her story in the issue. Lastly, Carrboro comic book writer-illustrator team Jeremy Whitley and Jason Strutz will give a live reading-illustration from THE ORDER OF DAGONET. Signing to follow. Snacks! Free! Durham bookstore to host NC Speculative Fiction Night

Thursday November 11th, 7 PM, Barnes & Noble of Durham, New Hope Commons, 5400 New Hope Commons, Durham, Free.

More than a dozen local speculative fiction authors, editors, and game designers, including World Fantasy and Nebula award winning Kij Johnson, will be on hand to read and talk about their recent publications. Other participants include: Durham’s Richard Dansky (Firefly Rain) and Mur Lafferty (Heaven), Raleigh’s Natania Barron (The Aldersgate Cycle), and Hillsborough’s James Maxey (the Dragon Age series).
