Best Barbecue in the Triangle – Reader’s Choice Awards

Eastern or western – more tomato 0r less vinegar – However you like it we can all agree that North Carolina has the best barbecue and the best-of-the-best can be found right here in the Triangle.  Here’s your chance to help these artists of the pit get the recognition they long deserve.

The winner receives a plaque, window decals, web badge, and the bragging rights of having the Best Barbecue in the Triangle as voted by readers of Triangle Arts and Entertainment.

The Fans are in control with one vote per IP address per day.

Voting starts on April 1st. and continues until midnight April 30th.

Please review our list below and add any in the comment section that you think we have missed.  Remember, the barbecue must be located within Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill (or pretty darn close).

  1. Thanks Tom, we’ll add them to the list.

  2. Can you add Aviator SmokeHouse in Fuquay?

  3. Aviator Smoke House is on the list posting at midnight tonight.

  4. Knightdale seafood and BBQ
    Falls river smokehouse
    Holden’s barbeque
    Cookout

  5. Cookout? Can you add the links?

  6. How can the total equal 143%? Is the survey broken?

  7. Their rankings are correct but the percentages are screwy. Will show final counts at end.

  8. I see there is a heavy Applebee’s fans presence judging by all the Dickey’s votes. JBFC.

  9. Hey, I voted for Ed. The Pit.

  10. I’m with you, T-A&E. This poll should get you some hits.

  11. Now Aviator has 222%! That’s a lot of pork.

  12. OK. We have the poll showing actual numbers of voters instead of the wacky percentage. Whoever suggested Cookout forgot to vote.

  13. best ribs I’ve ever had!!!!

  14. Best Brew in the Triangle had over 7,000 votes cast. Because we had such a large response we decided to have an awards ceremony Thursday, April 28 at 6 pm at the Village Draft House in Cameron Village. The brewers will be there to talk about their beers and sampling.

  15. I don’t think the exact vote count should be shown…It’ll create biased results.
And how is Red Hot and Blue winning? Anything on that list is better than them. They closed down a few that were in the triangle already

  16. How is Smithfield on this list? If you like eating factory farmed slop I guess..

I mean who wants to eat this?

  17. The Pit is over-priced and over-rated. The service is horrible. The food varies in quality from day-to-day, from OK to “what the heck is in this?” You should have two barbeque categories. One for North Carolina pulled pork (which is good, but it ain’t barbeque) and one for real Memphis and Texas barbeque.

  18. By far the best is Red Hot and Blue!!!

  19. What’s up??? We were up at midnight last night and Red Hot and Blue won!!! Looks like the contest did not end as stated. NOT COOL!

  20. This contest was supposed to have ended midnight on April 30th according to the rules at the top of this very page! I can assure you that Red Hot and Blue was in the lead at miidnight last night; all other votes after that time should not be counted. You made the rules, now follow them!

  21. Red Hot and Blue was winning on April 30 at Midnight! What happened, did the voting not stop?

  22. The results of this poll are a bigger joke than the best brewery poll. Dickey’s and Red, Hot and Blue over Allen & Sons, The Pit and Bullock’s? Please!

  23. It’s all in the voting

  24. At least we know where not to participate in polls anymore. You guys failed miserably. I’ll be sure to let everyone I know how you guys run things.

  25. I watched the voting until well past midnight, Red Hot and Blue had won even as of 12:28 am on 5/1/11. The voting was to STOP at 12 am but obviously did not. I am not sure that you had someone from triangleartsandentertainment.com monitoring this contest because if it had been properly monitored, Red Hot and Blue would have FAIRLY won the contest as it was 40%(RHB) to 39%(Dickeys) past midnight. This leads me to believe that this contest may have been fixed.
