Triangle Area Suzuki Japan Relief Benefit Concert

Fund Drive and Concert to Benefit Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief
On Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Page Auditorium on Duke University, more than 100
violinists from across the U.S. will be performing a concert to raise money for the
people of Japan.

The Triangle Suzuki music community and IPM Productions organized the concert and
fund drive in memory of Dr. Schinichi Suzuki, a Japanese violin teacher and pioneer in
talent education. “His kindness and loving teachings have touched countless people
worldwide; and he would have been the first to help in such a horrible tragedy,” stated
Michael Danchi, producer of the concert and fund drive. “Our goal is to have 100+
Suzuki Students, Teachers & Alumni on stage together.”

The concert will begin at 4:00 pm and will last until 5:00 pm. Beginning at 3:00 pm and
immediately following the concert, a silent auction and art gallery will be held. Items to
be auctioned include a signed Carolina Hurricanes jersey & tickets, a violin
autographed by Duke University’s Coach Krzyzewski, and Carolina Ballet tickets.
Tickets for the event are $10-100 and can be purchased at the Duke University Box
Office, 919-684-4444. More information is available on the concert’s official website:

The American Red Cross and Direct Relief International (D.R.I.) are designated
beneficiaries of the relief-fund drive.
