Drum Kit Notation and Transcription – Saturday, July 23 @ 2:00 pm

Hunter Crews will be doing a clinic on transcribing drum parts. This is a great clinic for anyone who is interested in writing drum set notation on paper and also for those that would like to be able to hear a part and write the corresponding notation. Topics will include: Time Signatures, Subdividing, Tempo, Counting, Notation, and Song Sections. This is a free clinic!

Introduction to Guitar – Sunday, July 31 @ 4:00

Randy Evans will be presenting a beginning guitar class for those of you who have been wanting to learn to play but haven’t been able to find time for regular lessons or perhaps you just need to jump start your desire to play again! Topics will include: How to tune, Basic Fretting Technique, Basic flat picking technique, Beginning ear training and Tablature reading, and an introduction to the most commonly used chords. You will learn how to play a basic song by the end of the class. This will be a 90 minute group class with a question and answer period at the end. Recording the class (for home reference only) is encouraged if you have a simple recording device or video camera you would like to bring. The cost of this class will be $10.00 per person. Enrollment is limited to ten people. Call 919-833-0046 to reserve your spot. A limited number of loaner guitars will be available at 2112 the day of the class. Please call in advance if you need a loaner guitar for the class.

Home Recording Techniques for Drummers & “The One Mic Drum Sound!”

Merritt Partridge will be doing a workshop and clinic on recording techniques for drummers and home/project studio practitioners. This workshop will be oriented around getting great drum sounds on a budget. Topics will include: one and two microphone recording techniques, drum head selection and tuning, hitting the drums to get the sound you want right off the kit, cymbal selection and treatment, and basic eq, compression and mixing concepts. This is a free workshop.

2112 Celebrates Our 25th Year with an Open House!!!!!

Sunday, August 20 beginning @ 11:00am!

Please join us Saturday, August 20th for an open house celebrating our 25th year. There will be live music in the parking lot featuring the 2112 Rock School band “Brimstone”, as well as a talent show open to 2112 School of Musical Arts students as well as the public. There will be door prizes from Remo and free music lessons and clinics by 2112 School of Musical Arts teachers happening throughout the day. We are also proud to announce that our new neighbors, K-House Recording Studio, will be participating and having an open house the same day; stop by and see them on August 20th to check out the studio and you can record a drum solo on their house drum set! A schedule of events will be coming soon!
