New Town Drunks

New Town Drunks part of No More Fake Labels showcase at NYC’s CMJ Music Marathon THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2011

Chapel Hill, NC imprint No More Fake Labels is set to host their first full label showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC on Thursday, October 20th at Bowery Poetry Club. NMFL has been gaining support since their indie star-studded first national release, Sing For Your Meat: A Tribute to Guided By Voices, The No More Fake Labels showcase boasts some pretty impressive artists and guests too, including Kelley Deal of the Breeders amongst others, and New Town Drunks are honored to have been invited to participate.  Here’s the lineup for the full showcase:

  • 7:00 – Mass Solo Revolt (East Tawas, MI)
  • 7:45 – Salt to Bitters (Chapel Hill, NC)
  • 8:30 – New Town Drunks (including Stu Cole of the Squirrel Nut Zippers)
  • 9:15 – Western Civ (Chapel Hill, NC)
  • 10:00 – Motel Beds (Dayton, OH with special guest Kelley Deal)
  • 10:45 – Saint Lips (Rome, Italy)

Keeping with the spirit of No More Fake Labels as an “artist first” resource, there will also be artwork contributed by NYC fixture, Anton Perich (founder of Night magazine, NYC’s first nightlife photo mag, contributing photographer to Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine and creator of the painting machine which later led to the first inkjet printers), and spoken word and storytelling between bands by musician and writer of all things sex, drugs and rock-n-roll, Mike Edison (former publisher of High Times magazine, author of rock-n-roll bios and books and scribe to Penthouse, Hustler and more.)

The first 50 CMJ badge holders in the door will receive goody bags filled with music and other goodies from No More Fake Labels, New Town Drunks, and several other artists that were not able to attend CMJ this year. Including a copy of the NMFL Guided By Voices tribute album which includes tracks from The Flaming Lips, Thurston Moore, Crooked Fingers, Western Civ, Kelley Deal and Buffalo Killers, Blitzen Trapper, La Sera and more!!

In addition, Bob has been published in Graphic Design USA, American Graphic Design, and the Creativity Annual. In 2008, Bob was honored to Judge the Davey Awards for interactive and web design. Bob's passion for the arts has led him to utilize his talent and experience in support of the arts here in the Triangle by creating Triangle Arts and Entertainment.
