Raleigh, N.C. – There’s still time to register for Artspace’s Summer Arts Program classes! Youth classes begin June 17 and Adult classes start May 20. Spots are limited. Artspace‘s Summer Arts Program provides a unique opportunity for students to work directly with professional artists and gain quality experience through hands-on activities. Youth classes are available for rising 3rd through 10th graders, with week-long, half or full-day options available. Students will typically complete one large individual art project and several smaller ones during this time. Summer classes cover a wide variety of topics including batik, painting, drawing, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, mural painting, portraiture, bookmaking, and even clock-making!
A variety of College Prep classes for rising 9th through 12th graders, and Adult classes for ages 16 and up are also offered during the summer. New this year, Artspace is offering College Prep class, Performance Video, instructed by Tracy Spencer-Stonestreet. This class will introduce performance video art to students, and students will work as a group to brainstorm fun choreographed tasks to make up their own group video. Artspace also offers several summer Saturday classes for rising 3rd through 8th graders at both Artspace (201 E Davie Street) and Artspace Pop-up (4421-103A Six Forks Rd).
Artspace is a nonprofit visual art center dedicated to providing arts education and community outreach programs, creating an environment of more than 100 professional artists and presenting nationally acclaimed exhibitions.
