Twin City Stage will hold auditions for The Philadelphia Story at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 5, at the Arts Council Theatre, 610 Coliseum Drive, Winston-Salem. No appointment is necessary.
The Philadelphia Story, by Philip Barry, is a witty romantic comedy about a haughty socialite, Tracy Lord, whose wedding plans are complicated by the simultaneous arrival of both her light-hearted ex-husband and a handsome tabloid reporter. Filled with clever one-liners, the play was a huge success on Broadway when it opened in 1939 with Katharine Hepburn playing the lead. It went on to the silver screen, again starring Hepburn, along with Cary Grant and James Stewart.
This is the opening play of Twin City Stage’s 79th Season. The Philadelphia Story will be directed by Jim McKeny and has roles for 9 men and 6 women.
Performance dates for The Philadelphia Story are September 13-15 & 19-22. All performances will be held at the Arts Council Theatre.
Actors will audition by reading scenes from the script. For a $10 refundable deposit, actors may check out a script in advance from the Twin City Stage main office (610 Coliseum Drive).
