POPS
October 12, 2013 – Bond and Beyond with Hilary Kole
You will be shaken, not stirred as sultry singer Hilary Cole opens the GSO POPS season performing For Your Eyes (and ears!) Only. The legacy of 007 comes alive in a symphonic tribute featuring music from five decades of Bond films, including Casino Royale, Goldfinger and From Russia with Love. Don’t miss this Bond girl as she belts out Live and Let Die, along with standards from Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and the Judy Garland songbook.
December 31, 2013 – John Denver’s Birthday Tribute
Celebrate John Denver’s 70th birthday with the return of John Curry as he performs John Denver’s most popular hits with Grammy award winning arranger, composer and conductor Lee Holdridge. Jim’s uncanny ability to mirror John’s voice and clean-cut look takes you back to the time when “Rocky Mountain High”, “Sunshine”, “Calypso”, and “Annie’s Song” topped the charts. You will not be disappointed at what promises to be a sold-out concert!
Non-perishable food items and donations will be collected for the benefit of the Greensboro Urban Ministry
February 14, 2014 – For Sentimental Reasons with John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molasky
When he performs with his wife, singer and Broadway actress Jessica Molaskey on Valentine’s Day with the GSO, you will be treated to a concert rich with original interpretations of songs from the Great American Songbook, mixed with contemporary classics.
May 17, 2014 – Broadway Spectacular
The GSO presents a Broadway Spectacular starring the handsome Doug LaBrecque who has performed on Broadway as The Phantom and toured nationally with Les Miserables, Emily Rozek who recently appeared as Glinda in Broadways’ hit Wicked, and stage, film and television actress Nicole Parker, known for her zany Madtv characters. Enticing, deceptive adversaries to our favorite heroes and villains – yet we love them still.
