The famous “Memphis Belle” is a great place to come for a few hours and have a picnic, explore the plane and learn some history from veteran bomber pilots. You can even take a ride for $450 – But if you can’t put up the big bucks for a ride, you can still enjoy a beautiful day and see a part of history that saved the world from war. Buying a hat is a salute to these great veteran pilots and it helps keep that museum in the sky flying.
The Liberty Foundations 2013 Salute to Veterans tour will be arriving in the Raleigh-Durham area at the Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport (South Sky Aviation FBO, 3441 North Aviation Drive) on Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22. On display will be the famous Boeing B-17 Memphis Belle celebrating this year the 70th anniversary of the Memphis Belle’s historic last mission.
Take a ride on “The Flying Fortress” – There are very few seats aboard this vintage aircraft so schedule your flight in advance by calling Scott Maher at 918.340.0243 or emailing smaher[at]libertyfoundation.org
