From the time she settled in Raleigh in 1976, Marta Findlay-Partridge has impacted the arts in our community. In 1982, she began a long and distinguished tenure as an itinerant teacher for elementary, middle and high school string programs in Wake County. For the next 28 years, wherever there was an orchestra to be established, nurtured, rescued or resuscitated, Marta managed to fit it into her schedule.
A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Marta began her professional career as a violinist with the Indianapolis Symphony. Although officially “retired,” she maintains an active performance schedule, teaches at Meredith College, conducts several orchestras and continues to be a persuasive advocate for arts education.
