Twin City Stage will hold auditions for Mary Poppins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14 at the Arts Council Theatre, 610 Coliseum Drive, Winston-Salem. No appointment is necessary.
There’s only one word for it—“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!” Jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she teaches the family how to value each other again. Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film,Mary Poppinsincludes a score filled with timeless classics such as “Jolly Holiday”, “Step in Time”, and the Academy Award®-winning “Chim-Chim Cher-ee”.
Maureen Daly, Twin City Stage’s executive director, will direct Mary Poppins. Margaret Gallagher will serve as music director and Benji Starcher will choreograph. There are roles available for 6 men and 8 women (ages 18-60) and 1 boy and 1 girl (ages 8-12). Actors are asked to prepare a song and bring along sheet music in the correct key. A cappella and CD sing-alongs are also allowed.
