Bloomsbury in Concert

Notes: Bloomsbury, Raleigh’s oldest string band, will perform in a concert benefitting Summer & Fall Amphitheatre Programming at Raleigh Little Theatre. For more than 40 years, Bloomsbury has performed its eclectic blend of acoustic music at clubs and picnics, as well as for business conventions, numerous charitable fundraisers, political events and sheer fun. With tight vocal blends and a constant swapping of instruments, Bloomsbury stays true to the folk songs of the 1960s on which they were founded. Over the years, they have expanded their set list to include a broad range of popular songs, gospel and bluegrass standards, and old time fiddle tunes.

There will be a light hors d’oeuvre reception before the show beginning at 7:00PM.

Cost: $30 if tickets are bought before July 12th, $35 if tickets are bought after July 12th

Notes: On four Sundays in July and August, Raleigh Little Theatre and Raleigh Brewing are offering free outdoor movies in the Stephenson Amphitheatre at RLT!

Gates open and the preshow activity begins at 7:00PM, the movie will play at 8:00PM.

Notes: Through a collage of speeches and songs, Runaways highlights the decision-making process and varied reasons children decide to run away while exploring the substitutes they find to deal with the loss of family. Musical.

Monty Python’s SPAMALOT

Notes: A highly irreverent and hilarious spoof. King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable embark on a quest in this adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The original Broadway production won three Tony’s and was nominated for 14, and ours is its first all-local production. Musical comedy.

Notes: A story about friendship for all seasons. Follow the adventures of worrywart toad and a perky frog as they plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. A jazzy score will have the whole family hopping along!

The affluent, African-American LeVay family is gathering at their Martha’s Vineyard home for the weekend, and brothers Kent and Flip have each brought their respective ladies home to meet the parents. As the two newcomers butt heads over issues of race and privilege, long standing tensions bubble under the surface and reach a boiling point when secrets are revealed.

Notes: A dark and whimsical fantasy. Sweeney Todd seeks revenge on Judge Turpin and teams up with the amorous Mrs. Lovett, a pie maker. When Sweeney opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett’s business, he adds a special ingredient to the recipe that has all of London dying for her pies.
