Twin City Stage will hold auditions for Macy’s YES, VIRGINIA THE MUSICAL on Sunday, October 18 at the Arts Council Theatre, 610 Coliseum Drive, Winston-Salem. Auditions for actors ages 7-15 will begin at 5 pm and auditions for actors 16+ will begin at 7 pm.
Eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon has always loved Christmas. When an older classmate brings up the age-old question – “Is there a Santa Claus?” – Virginia ventures into the city to find out for herself. A scraggly Santa, an excitable librarian, and even Virginia’s quirky doctor father can’t give her a satisfactory answer. So, Virginia writes to Francis Church, the editor of The New York Sun. The answer she receives is one that will become the most famous newspaper editorial of all time.
Justin Bulla will direct Macy’s YES, VIRGINIA THE MUSICAL. Daniel Dodson will serve as music director and Angela Daulton will choreograph the production. Kevin Hampton will stage manage. There are roles available for 20 children (ages 7-15) and 10 adults (ages 16+).
Everyone who auditions needs to be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song of a non- contemporary genre. Actors should wear comfortable clothing, as they will be taught a brief dance/movement sequence. Children who can tap dance: please bring your tap shoes.
Performance dates for Macy’s YES, VIRGINIA THE MUSICAL are December 18-20, 2015. All performances will be held at the Arts Council Theatre. For more information, please call Twin City Stage at (336) 748-0857 x209 or visit the website at www.twincitystage.org.
