LIZ MCDONALD NAMED GENERAL MANAGER OF CARY’S KOKA BOOTH AMPHITHEATRE

Cary, NC – The new year brings a new face to Koka Booth Amphitheatre as SMG is pleased to announce the appointment of Liz McDonald as the General Manager of the Town of Cary-owned and SMG-managed Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, NC.

McDonald brings over a decade of experience with a variety of entertainment venues and touring productions. Most recently she served as the Facility Director for SMG theatre venues in Jacksonville, FL. She also brings strong ties to the Triangle having spent her formative years in Raleigh where she attended Enloe High School and performed in several area theater productions including the inaugural season of the North Carolina Theatre.

According to Dolly Vogt, SMG Regional General Manager, “SMG is pleased to have completed this search and chosen McDonald as General Manager.  After seeing her success in Jacksonville, we are confident she will continue the tradition of bringing exciting programming to Booth Amphitheatre.”

“We are delighted to welcome Liz back to the Triangle and know her varied experiences will be a tremendous asset as we go into Booth Amphitheatre’s 16th season”, says Lyman Collins, Town of Cary Cultural Arts Manager.

McDonald was selected after a search of candidates both within SMG and the facility management industry.  “Her broad experience in the industry, positive ties to the Triangle and complimentary relationships with bookers and artists made her a natural choice,” adds Collins.

A seasoned entertainment veteran McDonald is eager to put her talent and experience to work in Cary. According to McDonald, “My lifetime love of for the arts began by being part of the Triangle Cultural community. It is a thrilling opportunity to return to the area to manage such a beautiful venue that means so much to the community. Booth Amphitheatre has seen remarkable growth since its inception and I look forward to continuing that success.”

In addition to her years of experience booking and promoting shows, Liz also has a wealth of theater knowledge that she will bring to Booth Amphitheatre. She is a graduate of Florida State University.

SMG, a leading provider of management services to a wide variety of facilities both nationally and internationally, has been contracted by the Town of Cary since 2001 to provide general management for Booth Amphitheatre. McDonald replaces Becky Colwell, who was recently appointed General Manager of The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
