Twin City Stage will hold auditions for The Wizard of Oz on Saturday, February 6, and Monday, February 8, at the Arts Council Theatre, 610 Coliseum Drive in Winston-Salem. Saturday auditions are for children (ages 6-14) and will begin at 10 am. Monday evening auditions are for “Dorothy” (ages 14-18) and teens and adults (ages 15+) and will begin at 7 pm. No appointment is necessary.
Whisked into the magical Land of Oz by a terrible tornado, Dorothy and Toto embark on a strange and enchanting adventure to find a way home, meeting the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion – and the Wicked Witch of the West – along the way. As The London Times put it, “This is, to come out with it immediately, the most marvelous show.”
Steven LaCosse will direct The Wizard of Oz, with music direction by Margaret Gallagher. There are roles available for 28 cast members, ages 6-65. Actors should be prepared to sing 16-32 measures of a song and bring sheet music in the correct key with them; an accompanist will be provided. CD accompaniment and a capella auditions are also permitted. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended, as a short dance sequence may be taught as part of the audition.
The Wizard of Oz performance dates will be April 15-17, 21-24 & 28-May 1, 2016. All performances will be held at the Arts Council Theatre. For more information, please call Twin City Stage at
