I fell head over heels in love with the Backstreet Boys as a young kid in the mid-90s growing up in Charlotte, NC.  I’d always dreamed and fantasized about seeing them perform live in concert, but had never gotten the chance.

BACKSTREET’S BACK! After 26 YEARS of patiently waiting, I finally got the opportunity to fulfill my lifelong dream of seeing them perform live at their SOLD OUT DNA World Tour at PNC Arena. I really appreciate Michael, the photographer, for asking me to write a review for the show since he figured I’d give it the riveting one it deserved.

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to see HUNDREDS of concerts (no exaggeration by any stretch), and this show, was by far, the most AMAZING one I’d ever seen in my lifetime.

The stage and lighting were top-notch as you would expect of a group of this magnitude. The boys show they still have the right moves as they perform choreographed dance together while having boyish fun on stage with the audience. We even got to (kind of) watch Kevin Richardson and AJ McLean do a costume change on stage for entertainment while the rest of the boys changed in back. While changing behind a neck-high enclosed barrier, they mentioned how the upper level seats now had the better view. AJ asked if the ladies remember how they used to throw their panties and bras up on stage. Then he and Kevin flashed their boxer briefs! Kevin’s were pink and signed, and he tossed them into the pit crowd. A t-shirt was thrown in a minute later.

The Backstreet Boys is made up of five group members: AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, and my personal favorite, Nick Carter!

They sang so many excellent songs from their multiple albums including “I Want It That Way”, “Shape of My Heart”, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” to “Larger than Life,” “Quit Playin’ Games (with my Heart),” “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely,” and of course, the awesome songs on their newest album “DNA.” However, my all-time favorite Backstreet Boys song remains “As Long As You Love Me.”

The group has sold over 130 million records worldwide, which makes them the best-selling boy band of all time. As of 2019, the Backstreet Boys has received eight Grammy Award nominations, including four nominations in 2000. The group has also received two American Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, a Juno Award, and many others.  And with good reason.  They are UNBELIEVABLY INCREDIBLE! If you have the opportunity to see them perform live in concert, DO IT!

Thank you, Backstreet Boys, from the bottom of my heart, for letting me reflect and reminisce on nostalgia from my childhood in the 90s.  I loved you 26 years ago, love you now, and will always love you.  I will forever treasure this unforgettable night, and you will be in my heart for an eternity.
