Shun the Ravin

Shun the Ravin

@ The Blind Tiger, Greensboro January 11, 2020

I had a chance to meet and see the 2019 Carolina Music Awards “Rock Band of the Year”, Shun the Raven, this weekend at the Blind Tiger.

The guys of this progressive metal band; Jairus Combs (bassist), Chad Hough (drummer), Aaron Monk (vocalist/guitarist) and Cody Pike (guitarist) were friendly. They were out mixing with the audience, posing for pictures and signing autographs before getting psyched up for their show back in the green room.

The atmosphere was dark as the stage was filled with smoke, back lite in red and purple. Displays on the sides of the stage flashing video as STR starts out with their tune, Feed the Beast. The crowd was into it, singing along with Aaron as he belted out the lyrics. The show was excellent except for the poor lighting. You could not see 3/4 of the band (sorry about the pictures).

STR is well known and popular out the Greensboro way and has been getting airplay on iHeart Radio radio this month. They are working on getting some shows here in the Triangle area and I for one am looking forward to seeing them again here.

Setlist:

  • Feed the Beast
  • Pusher
  • BTW
  • Slave to Creation
  • Reasons
  • Like a Bullet
  • The Wall
  • Sig & Sin
  • Clockwork
  • Tale of Two Tales
