I have to say this show did not start out well for me… Pandemic as made most performers cut media photographers. So no pictures from me on this one. But they did comp me media tickets in the 5th row center for the show! Unfortunately, I went to the Red Hat before remembering it was a Walnut Creek… I have to say, Slipknot’s publicist and band manager were great about finding my tickets… Laughed it off after we figured out I was at the wrong venue.
This was a great show! The power of the bands music backed up with flamethrowers and fireworks made quite a show!
Slipknot is also known for aggressive style and energy and for wearing scary, masks to make the show more edgy and dark like their music. Singer Corey Taylor’s looked based off the doll from the animated film “9” with empty glowing eye sockets and stitches across the head.
Taylor spoke of the pandemic and how the government was trying to divide the nation with fear and hate. How music, ALL music can tie us together as a family. How we, the audience, was his extended family.
The band played a good mix of songs ranging from the 1999 album “Slipknot” to 2019s “We Are Not Your Kind”. It was a powerful, dark, head banging show.
