The adventurous tale of Puss in Boots will unfold at The ArtsCenter on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. with a performance by local favorites Rags To Riches Theatre for Young Audiences. Part of The ArtsCenter’s 2011-2012 SuperFun Series for family audiences, which is sponsored in part by Chapel Hill Tire Car Care Center, this performance will be fun way for families to spend a Saturday morning this winter.
Famous for providing their own spin on classic tales, Rags To Riches will not disappoint audiences with this energetic and interactive performance. Puss in Boots, the famous trickster cat who is named Josie in this version, devises a scheme for her master – the miller’s son – to meet the king and his daughter Olivia. What happens when you combine a castle on the hill, a talking cat in boots, and an ogre all in one story? Join the rollicking adventure to find out, and be prepared to interact with the story in the typical Rags To Riches’ style.
Based in Durham, Rags To Riches travels around the state and country performing in front of thousands every year. In recent months, the group has performed at Deep Dish Theatre in Chapel Hill, all of the Durham County Library Branches, the Century Center in Carrboro, and most recently, at the Nasher Museum of Art in Durham (for two sold out shows!). Audience participation is an important aspect of Rags To Riches plays, so be prepared to join in the fun! These far from ordinary performances are great for families and are an excellent introduction to live theater for even the youngest audience members. Rags To Riches will kick off your family’s weekend with a strong dose of laughter and fun!
Perfect for children in preschool through 3rd grade, Puss in Boots (Rags To Riches style!) will entertain all adults in attendance too. Don’t miss the re-telling of this classic tale featuring the famous trickster cat! Tickets are $7 for youth and ArtsClub Members, and $9 for adults. A Family 4-Pack is also available for $28. Children 2 and under (i.e., lap sitters) are admitted free. To purchase tickets, call The ArtsCenter’s Box Office at (919) 929-2787, ext. 201, visit www.ArtsCenterLive.org, or stop by The ArtsCenter.
