David F.M. Vaughn steals the show with his wonderfully wicked, mincing, menacing performance as Lord Farquaad, Shrek and Princess Fiona’s half-pint nemesis who cynically dispatches the ogre and his stalker-turned-sidekick Donkey to rescue Fiona from a spooky castle, surrounded by a moat of molten lava and guarded by a fierce fire-breathing Dragon.
“Shrek the Musical” stars Eric Petersen as the big, green, smelly, antisocial, swamp-dwelling ogre Shrek; Alan Mingo, Jr. as his smart-aleck sidekick and best friend Donkey; Haven Burton as Princess Fiona of Far, Far Away; and David F.M. Vaughn as the villainous Lord Farquaad, the nasty, brutish, and short ruler of Duloc.
