“Nerds” has a book and lyrics by Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner and music by Hal Goldberg. With the tagline, “Steve, Bill and the dawn of the digital revolution,” it hugely satirizes the meeting and the subsequent paths to glory of Microsoft founder Bill Gates (Stanley Bahorek) and his rival, Apple founder Steve Jobs (N.C.-native Darren Ritchie). A kernel of truth allows for some outlandish happenings. It’s pretty big; it’s very flashy; but in the end, it’s just okay.
“American Idol” runner-up Diana DeGarmo will star as Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs’ girlfriend Sally in the North Carolina Theatre‘s pre-Broadway engagement of “Nerds,” a frisky new PG-13-rated musical comedy about the birth of Microsoft Corporation and Apple. Broadway veterans Stanley Bahorek and Darren Ritchie will co-star as Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

OMG! “Legally Blonde the Musical” Is Back in the Triangle — and the North Carolina Theatre Is Doing It
Oh, my God, you guys! “Legally Blonde the Musical” is back — by popular demand. The show made its Triangle debut at Durham Performing Arts Center on April 14-19, 2009; but the upcoming presentation is a gala homegrown production by the one of this state’s leading regional theater companies. The critically acclaimed North Carolina Theatre will perform “Legally Blonde” on Oct. 9-14 in Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
