Next up for PlayMakers Repertory Company is “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s professional-theater-in-residence will reenact the Christmas-Eve travails of troubled Bedford Falls building-and-loan executive George Bailey on Nov. 28-Dec. 2 and Dec. 4-9 and 11-16 in the Paul Green Theatre in UNC’s Center for Dramatic Art.
After staging crowd-pleasing radio-drama presentations of “It’s a Wonderful Life” in 2008 and 2009, the Cary Players’ community theater attempted an ambitious full-scale stage adaptation of the movie. The result was entertaining, but had a far too many rough spots, some of them due to the youth and/or inexperience of several members of the cast.
The Cary Players will present a full stage adaptation of the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life,” based on the perennially popular 1946 motion picture, on Dec. 1-5 in the new 390-seat Cary Arts Center.
