Paperhand Puppet Intervention is a cultural treasure of the Old North State, and Tarheels should turn out in droves whenever and wherever the Paperhand puppeteers are performing their left-wing political parables. Even when the plot is extremely convoluted, as the story of “City of Frogs” is, the irrepressible puppeteers and musicians of Paperhand Puppet Intervention make each scene invigorating. Bravo!
Paperhand’s 13th Summer Pageant, “City of Frogs,” Features Giant Puppets, Masks, Stilts, and Live Music
Saxapahaw, NC-based Paperhand Puppet Intervention’s 13th annual summer spectacular, “City of Frogs,” will feature giant puppets, masks, shadow puppets, stilt walkers, and live music. Paperhand will perform this puppet pageant on Aug. 10-12, 17-19, and 24-26; Aug. 31-Sept. 3; and Sept. 7-9 in the Forest Theatre on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus and on Sept. 14-16 at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh.
The grant will help fund the orchestra’s season-ending, all-Spanish concert with “El retablo de maese Pedro” (Master Peter’s Puppet Show) as its centerpiece. This is the second consecutive year The COT has received a grant from the NCAC.
