Friday, September 25, is the deadline to submit entries for the first annual Sandhills Film Festival to be held October 22-25 at various locations throughout Fayetteville and Hope Mills. The festival will feature a wide variety of local, national and international independent films in a variety of genres.

“In recent years, Fayetteville has put many of its efforts into the revitalization of downtown,” says Suzanne Milano, the event’s coordinator. “Filled with restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, boutiques, and an independent movie theatre, the ‘Heart of Fayetteville’ will be the perfect hub for this year’s festival activities.”

The Sandhills Film Festival will have categories for shorts and features, narratives, documentaries, experimentals, animations, several showcases featuring women and minorities, and nightly events to include parties, food and social networking. The event plans to have something for everyone. Those wishing to submit entries should have their film submitted by September 25, but can submit as late as October 1, for an additional entry fee. For a complete list of entry fees and festival information visit the website at www.sandhillsfilmfestival.com.

Event Co-founder, Ericka Williams: “Introducing a film festival to historic downtown Fayetteville is not only the next step towards the revitalization of downtown, but is also a great opportunity for local residents to come together to experience culture, networking and to collaborate with other artists.”
