November 15 Concert Features Elegant Strings Performances
The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle Continues 27th Season

The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle
(www.thecot.org) continues its 27th season with an all-strings performance on Sunday, November 15, 2009. The 3 p.m. concert will be held at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, N.C.

“The performance will take the audience on a wild musical journey that is dark, foreboding and technically demanding,” says Lorenzo Muti, artistic director and conductor for The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. “We will progress from the hilarious and carefree Sonata by Rossini to the dark and unconventional Serenade by Wiren; experience the emotional and heart-wrenching Adagio by Barber and finish with the devilishly difficult Divertimento by Bartok.”

The difficulty level of performing such varied pieces pays tribute to the elite corps of musicians and standard of excellence The COT continues to develop in each succeeding season.

Additional 2009-2010 season performances include:

  • January 17, 2010 – Guest pianist Benjamin Moser – works by composers Wolf, Chopin, Sibelius and Kodaly
  • March 14, 2010 – Ballet Meets Orchestra – works by composers Johnson, Copland and Roussel
  • May 16, 2010 – All-European Program – works by composers Rossini, Schubert and Mozart

To emphasize its commitment to engaging young people with great classical music, the orchestra provides free seating at every concert to students of all ages. Tickets are available at the Carolina Theatre box office or by calling 919.560.3030.
