The excitement and glamour of Hollywood is coming to Raleigh on Oscar Night. Residents of Raleigh can experience the thrills and surprises of the 82nd Academy Awards® on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Raleigh’s own Oscar Night America party.
The Raleigh event is one of 50 parties officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that will be held across the country on Oscar Night.
Benefiting Theatre In The Park, Raleigh’s Oscar Night celebration will be held at Theatre In The Park, beginning at 7:00PM. Tickets are now on sale at www.theatreinthepark.com, or by calling 919-831-6058. General Admission tickets are available for $50. For those interested in attending an exclusive VIP reception prior to the start of the evening’s festivities, VIP tickets are available for $100 or a VIP Table for 8 may be reserved for $600.
The audience will watch the Academy Awards telecast on large screens courtesy of ABC-11/WTVD, the Raleigh affiliate of the ABC Television Network, which broadcasts the Academy Awards presentation. This is the 17th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country. This year marks the 3rd year that Theatre In The Park’s party has been sanctioned by the Academy.
“Oscar Night America parties give communities across the country the opportunity to both share in the excitement of Oscar Night and support worthy causes,” said Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis. “The Academy is very proud that our worldwide television event can benefit so many charities on a local level.”
Official Oscar Night parties last year raised more than $3 million in 52 cities. All money raised stays in the local community.
The Academy will provide party guests in Raleigh the same official program distributed to guests at the Oscarâ presentation at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood.
Raleigh guests may feel like stars themselves as they arrive on the red carpet and be photographed by the paparazzi, dine on catered buffet provided by The Angus Barn, enjoy open bar with beverages provided by Mutual Distributing Company, all while enjoying the Oscars on one of Raleigh’s largest closed circuit screens. The evening’s host, Ira David Wood III, Executive Director, alongside Master of Ceremonies, Larry Stogner, News Anchor, ABC/WTVD will entertain you and encourage you to participate in the Silent Auction that boasts of autographed, Hollywood, Broadway and sports memorabilia, along with a wide selection of donations from local businesses and arts organizations.
“Oscar Night generates excitement all over the world,” said Ira David Wood III, Executive Director, Theatre In The Park. “With the Academy’s help, our guests will feel like they are on the A-list.” “We had an incredibly enthusiastic turnout last year and hope to raise even more money for our Annual Fund for Community Arts and Education this year.”
