“The Rocky Horror Show” Roars into Raleigh

On Thursday, Oct. 28th, the Carolina Theatre Group, LLC’s powerhouse presentation of “The Rocky Horror Show” roared into Raleigh — “Sexy as Hell,” as advertised, oh yeah — with a wild and wooly cast of deliciously depraved characters stalking Scenic Asylum’s macabre multilevel set that surpasses Dr. Frankenstein’s castle in creepiness. A hard-rocking onstage band, with fire in their fingertips, rattled the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium rafters.

Goodnight’s Comedy Club and Broadway Series South presents NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” Live Tour, an evening of knee-slapping stand-up comedy starring Season 7 winner Felipe Esparza, and three of the four Summer 2010 finalists (Mike DeStefano, Tommy Johnagin, and Myq Kaplan), plus sixth-place finisher Jonathan Thymius, on Oct. 29th in the Meymandi Concert Hall in the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh, NC.

Raleigh Ensemble Players’ Halloween Show Is “Bug,” an Eerie Psychological Thriller by Tracy Letts

For its Halloween show, Raleigh Ensemble Players will present “Bug,” prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts’ award-winning 2004 Off-Broadway hit for mature audiences, on Oct. 28-Nov. 20 in the REP Upstairs Studio at 213 Fayetteville St. “Bug is a really fascinating show … an eerie psychological thriller that’s really fun for Halloween and the fall season,” claims Raleigh Ensemble Players’ managing director Gary Williams. “All of the action takes place in a motel room on the outskirts of Oklahoma City, and the production designers have done a great job of creating an intimate environment where the audience are voyeurs watching the action.”
