Stand-Up Comic Rickey Smiley Returns to DPAC

Rickey Smiley is renowned for his clean comedy

African-American stand-up comic Rickey Smiley, renowned for his clean comedy, will return to Durham Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11th. Comedian J. Anthony Brown will open the show.

According to Durham Performing Arts Center:

“Rickey Smiley is known for making millions laugh every morning on his nationally syndicated radio program, the ‘Rickey Smiley Morning Show.’ He regularly captivates fans with his blend of prank phone calls, beloved characters and irreverent social commentary. When not on-air, Smiley is a widely admired performer whose ‘clean’ comedy appeals to a diverse audience.

“Smiley is the only comedian who has had the honor of hosting BET’s ‘Comic View’ for two seasons. He has made numerous television and movie appearances over the years and has produced six comedy CDs. He also has released several humorous songs based on his bits and his latest release ‘Prank Calls: Volume VI’ is featured in the sequel Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming which came out this year.”

According to Wikipedia:

“James Anthony Brown (born in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American comedian, actor and radio personality. He received the Peabody Award and the NAACP Image Award … in 1993 for his contribution in reconstruction after the 1992 LA uprising.”
