NEW TOWN DRUNKS RELEASE ‘GOING’ LIVE ALBUM BENEFITING THE INTER–FAITH COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL SERVICE
SATURDAY JULY 23, 2011
On July 23rd New Town Drunks will release their 4th album, Going, on Tiny Canvas Records. Part of the proceeds from the 10” live EP (vinyl w/ downloads) will go to benefit the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service (http://ifcweb.org/).
During Diane Koistinen and Roberto Cofresi’s (aka New Town Drunks) first difficult months in Chapel Hill the IFC provided them with basic life necessities as well as guidance. So when Jon Shain asked them to play at his 10th annual post-turkey day benefit for the IFC at the Cat’s Cradle they jumped at the opportunity. And when engineer, Jesse Olley, played the recording of the performance they loved it and decided to release it as an album and offer their share of the proceeds to the IFC.
Tiny Canvas Records is proud to release a record that is as good in its community spirit as it is in its energizing live performance. The record release party will take place on Saturday, July 23rd, at the Station in Carrboro. The free show will include local groups the Red Hot Poker Dots and Curtis Eller.
Since 2003, Diane and Roberto have performed as New Town Drunks accompanied by some of the best talent North Carolina has to offer. “Chapel Hill and Carrboro welcomed us with open arms,” says Roberto, “We have flourished here and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the community. We felt this was a great opportunity to help a very worthy organization to which we have a personal connection.”
