DPAC will celebrate their Three Year Anniversary at the QDR Country for Kids Concert
DPAC, the Durham Performing Arts Center, will celebrate three monumental years of success on November 30, 2011 during Wednesday evening’s QDR Country for the Kids Concert.
“We saw the need for a live entertainment venue in the growing Triangle market that could present it all and three years later are glad we made the right choice to manage a home to Broadway, concerts and comedy in the region,” said President of Professional Facilities Management, Lynn Singleton.
DPAC will celebrate its third anniversary on Wednesday evening with a welcome from mayor Pro Tem Cora Cole McFadden, Happy Birthday performance from North Carolina’s very own Jason Michael Carroll and a DPAC replica cake provided by Edible Art for the entire audience to enjoy in the DPAC lobby.
“Nederlander is thrilled to be a contributing partner to the booming growth of DPAC over the past three years,” stated Jack Meyer, Vice President of Programming at Nederlander. “A strong partnership with PFM and with the City of Durham continues to keep a thriving Broadway pipeline of top notch shows planned for DPAC for many years to come. We can’t wait to reveal what the next three years will bring.
Since November 2008, DPAC has greeted over 1 million guests with the help of SunTrust Broadway at DPAC; where the best direct from New York Broadway hits continue to grace the stage. DPAC successfully just ended a three-week run of the biggest holiday show ever in the Triangle, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Over 75,000 patrons attended DPAC for this remarkable first-time event. Other successful Broadway sellout runs to note during the past three years include Disney’s The Lion King, WICKED, The Color Purple, and Blue Man Group.
DPAC‘s three-year concert highlights incorporate an impressive list of today’s finest entertainers: Harry Connick Jr., David Sedaris, Maxwell, Wilco, Steve Martin with the Steep Canyon Rangers, twice performed Steely Dan, Dolly Parton, and Earth, Wind and Fire are just a few of the 100+ list of performers. DPAC has sold out over 150 performances in the past three years and plans on announcing the new anticipated season in February 2012.
