Children’s Theatre of Winston-Salem Announces Auditions for Romeo & Juliet

R&J1The Children’s Theatre of Winston-Salem will hold auditions for Romeo & Juliet on Saturday, January 11 from 1-4 pm, at the Arts Council Theatre, 610 Coliseum Drive, Winston-Salem. No appointment is necessary.

Arguably the most famous love story of all time, Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet tells the tale of a boy and a girl from warring families who meet and fall in love. Fate is not on their side, however, and they make a tragic choice rather than live without each other. The Children’s Theatre will bring this timeless tale to life in an abridged version, perfect for younger audiences (recommended for grades 4-12).

Romeo & Juliet will be directed by Cheri Van Loon. There are roles available for one boy and one girl (ages 14-16) and 6-10 adults (ages 17+). Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. The play will be performed in traditional Shakespearean language.

Performance dates for Romeo & Juliet will be February 27 and 28 at 10 am & 12 noon, and March 1at 7 pm. All performances will be held at the Arts Council Theatre. For more information, please call the Children’s Theatre at (336) 748-0857 x204.
