Artsplosure continues to inspire and entertain the Triangle community by bringing the 36th edition of The Raleigh Arts Festival to downtown this weekend, now THREE days: May 15-17. This year’s festival sees the Art Market and main music stages on Fayetteville Street while Kidsplosure remains in Moore Square on Saturday and Sunday.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, the renowned Art Market features nearly 200 visual artists from across North Carolina and the U.S. selling works of painting, metal, jewelry and more! New this year is the China Arts Festival featuring visual artists and performers from China, set to take place in City Market. On Fayetteville Street, music begins at 5 p.m. and wraps up around 10 p.m. with Those Darlins.
The Art Market will open back at 11 a.m. Saturday with music beginning on both the Main Stage and NC Stage in the early afternoon. Moore Square will once again host Kidsplosure with crafts, kid-centric performances and the life-size “Birdtown” art installation. Festivalgoers will also enjoy the Community Birdhouse Project and annual favorites like the giant Sandy Feat sand sculpture. Saturday evening wraps up with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Elvin Bishop taking the Main Stage at 8 p.m.
Kidsplosure will open at 10 a.m. Sunday with music again beginning in the early afternoon. Sunday continues to bring the “wow” factor with performances by Down to Earth Aerials and “Points of View” art installation by Dan Nelson. Raleigh natives American Aquarium take the Main Stage at 6 p.m. to close out this year’s festival.
