The Carolina Theatre of Durham will present Isabella Rossellini presenting Green Porno at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5th. Born on June 18, 1952 in Rome, Italy, 63-year-old Isabella Fiorella Elettra Giovanna Rossellini is the daughter of Swedish actress and three-time Oscar® winner Ingrid Bergman (1915-82) and director Roberto Rossellini (1906-77), who won the Grand Prize at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival for Roma città aperta (Rome, Open City), which he directed and co-wrote, and earned an Academy Award® nomination for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay in 1946 for Paisà (Paisan). On her official Twitter page, Rossellini — who won the 1987 Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for Blue Velvet, among many other honors — whimsically describes herself as “Actress / Model / Mother / Farmer.”

Isabella Rossellini stars in Green Porno, an original television series that she conceived, wrote, and directed for the Sundance TV channel. Begun in 2008, Green Porno focuses on Everything That You Always Wanted to Know About Animal Sexual Behavior, But Were Afraid to Ask.

According to The Carolina Theatre:

“Art-house luminary Isabella Rossellini reveals the surprisingly kinky and confounding mating rituals of insects and marine life in this one-woman show, adapted from the celebrated Sundance Channel series of the same name. With day-glo costumes and paper puppets, Rossellini channels a host of reproductive oddities based on a text by the influential French screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière (The Mahabharata, [1990] Next Wave; The Tin Drum[, 1979]). Part nature documentary, part DIY cartoon, Green Porno is a cheeky, delightful zoology lesson brought vividly to life by Rossellini’s singular flair for storytelling.”
