@ The Raleigh Memorial Auditorium October 5, 2019
Dream Theater was back again after playing here at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts/Raleigh Memorial Auditorium last year. This year I was privileged to receive credentials to shoot the Boston band.
As I said, Dream Theater is a Boston based band originally named Majesty by members John Petrucci, John Myung and past member Mike Portnoy back in 1985. All of whom dropped out of Berklee College of Music to pursue the band and their music more fully.
I would call Dream Theater a rock musicians rock band because of their complexity, rhythms and sound. I was surprised to see less than half the seats filled for their show… But there where 3 other big concerts running that night. I was approved for 2 other shows but picked Dream Theater.
The Distance Over Time Tour is not really a tour in support of the bands last same named album that hit #1 on the iTunes Top Album Chart the day of its release. It’s more in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their concept album Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory. They performed the album in its entirety in the second set of the 2 hour and 45 minute show.
