KoЯn @ Walnut Creek August 10, 2021
I’m back! This is my first show this season after all the Rona stuff as mentioned in the Staind review.
It was a nice day for my first event back albeit photographers now have to shoot from the soundboard and are required to mask up. Maybe 10-20% of the crowd was masked up for this outdoor event.
The audience filled in more for KoЯn as they were the headliner for this 2 header show. I was expecting it to sell out due to the fact that for about a year and a half there were no shows.
Korn’s current lineup features founding members James “Munky” Shaffer (rhythm guitar), Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu (bass), Brian “Head” Welch (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Jonathan Davis (lead vocals, bagpipes), with the addition of Ray Luzier (drums).
Jonathan was not sporting a full kilt as we have seen him in previous shows. Looked like it was a half kilt of some kind. The back half was, shall we say, kiltish. Or in the case, back half of a skirt. To be a “man’s man” a kilt it is to be worn with no undergarment. Jonathan was clearly wearing pants. Thankfully that did not stop him from breaking out his bagpipes later into the show.
As for the show itself it was how you would expect. Lots of lights, lasers and good mix of your favorites from their 13 studio albums. They put on a great show with a lot of head banging energy.
