Event Details

Southeast’s Largest Charitable Music Event to Benefit YMCA of the Triangle Partnership

Raleigh, N.C. Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, has announced its headliner for this year’s Main Event concert on May 6 at Red Hat Amphitheater. Crossover artist Ben Folds, who blends rock, pop and even classical pieces will lead the show, with proceeds from the event benefitting the 2017 Band Together/YMCA of the Triangle partnership.

Widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our generation, Folds has created an enormous body of genre-bending musical art that includes pop albums as the front man for Ben Folds Five, multiple solo rock albums, as well as unique collaborative records with artists from Sara Bareilles and Regina Spektor, to Weird Al and William Shatner.

Folds has spent over a decade sharing the stage with some of the world’s greatest symphony orchestras – from Sydney, Australia to the Kennedy Center, performing his pop hits and his critically acclaimed concerto for Piano and Orchestra.

His most recent album was a blend of pop and classical original works that soared to #1 on both the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts. Beginning last fall and throughout 2017, Folds returned to pounding pianos again with cross country solo and more orchestral performances.

Supporting acts will be named in the coming weeks, and will include the winner of the seventh annual Last Band Standing – Band Together’s signature band competition – to be held February 25, 2017 at Lincoln Theatre.

This year, through community support and corporate and individual donations, Band Together and YMCA of the Triangle aim to raise $1 million to build a YMCA that will include a wellness center, gym and an outdoor aquatics center. The facility will serve as a community hub to facilitate partnerships that will provide a variety of services, including wellness, nutrition, education, healthcare, affordable housing and more for families in Southeast Raleigh.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3 through E-tix.
