The Philharmonic Association‘s Fall Jazz Concert on November 4th from 4:00-6:00 at the Cary Arts Center features all three of the PA’s talented jazz ensembles: the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Triangle Youth Jazz Band.
Director of TYJE, Gregg Gelb, has programmed a variety of pieces for TYJE including the following: the Opener by Bill Holman, It’s All Right With Me by Cole Porter, 15 Minutes Late by John Clayton, Jam-a-ditty by Duke Ellington, The Very Thought of You by Ray Noble, Peace/Blue Silver by Horace Silver and Blue Mitchell, In a Mellotone by Duke Ellington, Accentuate the Positive by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen, The Jody Grind by Horace Silver.
TYJO will also be performing a variety of pieces including Cotton Tail by Duke Ellington, Blue Moon by Rogers Hart, El Abrazo by Alan Baylock, It’s Only a Paper Moon by Harold Arlen, and Hay Burner by Sammie Nestico.
On TYJB’s program are the following pieces: Orange Colored Sky by Sammie Nestico, Little Sunflower by Milton DeLugg and Willie Stein, and 88 Bassie Street by Freddie Hubbard.
Tickets will be available at the box office one hour before the concert as well as online.
