RLT’s “Cinderella” Is a Zany Musical Comedy Based on the Familiar French Fairy Tale by Charles Perrault
Director Haskell Fitz-Simons will team up with choreographer Leah Landau and musical director Julie Florin to stage “Cinderella.” This delightful musical comedy features music by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy and a book and lyrics by Eiler, based on the familiar French fairy tale by Charles Perrault.
“Cinderella” stars Hailey Best as Cinderella and Pelham Jacobs as Prince Charming. They make a handsome pair, and they sing superbly. But once director Haskell Fitz-Simons sends in the clowns, the beautiful but bedraggled scullery maid Cinderella and her handsome Prince get royally upstaged.
Every child knows the story of Cinderella, but it’s safe to say that most of them probably haven’t seen it portrayed quite the way that Raleigh Little Theatre does it. Raleigh Little Theatre is bringing “Cinderella” home. After years of performing this seasonal show at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh, RLT will present its zany 27th annual presentation of “Cinderella” on Dec. 10-12 and 16-19 in its own Cantey V. Sutton Theatre in west Raleigh.
