I continue to feel such pride, too, in my son [Ira David Wood IV]’s incredible job as Scrooge in this year’s production of “A Christmas Carol.” As a dear friend said, there is now indisputable evidence that the show will live on and hopefully continue to entertain and heal hearts long after I’ve taken my last curtain call.

The historic 36th edition of long-time Theatre in the Park executive and artistic director Ira David Wood III’s zany musical-comedy version of “A Christmas Carol” marks the first time ever that someone besides David Wood has hammed it up hilariously as Charles Dickens’ miserly old misanthrope Ebenezer Scrooge, whose miraculous Christmas Eve change-of-heart annually leaves TIP patrons laughing through their tears.

26-Year-Old Ira Wood Debuts as Scrooge in TIP’s 2010 Edition of “A Christmas Carol”

This year, for the first time ever, someone besides TIP founder and executive director Ira David Wood III will don the hawkish prosthetic nose and ratty gray wig and trowel on the age makeup to play Ebenezer Scrooge when the curtain goes up on 36th annual edition of Wood’s madcap musical version of “A Christmas Carol.” David Wood’s 26-year-old son and namesake, Ira David Wood IV, will tackle his father’s signature role.
