The National Theatre of Scotland Will Perform “The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart” on Sept. 16-20
Carolina Performing Arts will present the National Theatre of Scotland’s critically acclaimed production of “The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart,” created by David Greig and directed by Wils Wilson, on Sept. 16-20 in the Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery Back Bar in downtown Chapel Hill, NC. The National Theatre of Scotland previously performed “Black Watch” by Gregory Burke on Feb. 9-13, 2011 in the backstage area of Memorial Hall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
There are two words for the National Theatre of Scotland’s wrenching rendition of Scottish playwright Gregory Burke’s harrowing Iraq war play, “Black Watch,” which occupied the Memorial Hall stage on Feb. 8-13 as part of Carolina Performing Arts’ International Theater Festival. They are Shock and Awe.
Viewed through the eyes of those on the ground, “Black Watch” reveals what it means to be part of the legendary Scottish regiment, what it means to be part of the war on terror and what it means to make the journey home again.
