TIP’s Crackerjack Cast Runs Wild on Stephen J. Larson’s Magnificent Reversible Multilevel Set for “Noises Off”
Staged at a gallop by director Ira David Wood IV, Theatre in the Park‘s production of “Noises Off” features a magnificent reversible multilevel set by scenic and lighting designer Stephen J. Larson — which is probably his best set yet.
“Noises Off” is a hysterical comedy-within-a-comedy that captures a touring theater troupe’s production of a British sex farce in three stages: a dragging dress rehearsal, the boisterous opening performance, and an unbelievable performance toward the end of the run. Each performance is portrayed from behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance.
PlayMakers Repertory Company’s 36th season, highlighted by a Shakespearean coming-of-age epic and two world premieres, was unveiled Thursday (March 17) by producing artistic director Joseph Haj.
